When modern life causes headaches – How to handle health problems caused by stress

(djd). Modern life offers us many opportunities but also puts high demands on us: Timelines and pressure to perform dominate our work environment. At the same time, we strive to spend sufficient time with family, friends and our hobbies. Additionally, we have to deal with an immense amount of information, have to be permanently available and must deal with multi-tasking due to the ever present digitalization. Life is constantly getting faster and more complex, increasing physical and psychological stress.

Fast aid when suffering from a headache

This combination causes headaches and migraine. Those who suffer from it, know that. In a recent poll, a quarter of those interviewed cited stress at work or at home as one of the main causes for his or her ailments. When a headache starts, fast and reliable aid is necessary. Germany‘s Migraine and Headache Association (DMKG) recommends a three-part combination of acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) and caffeine. This combination is available as an over the counter drug in pharmacies and works very effectively and quickly, thanks to the caffeine. Additionally, it can be used for regular headaches as well as for migraine headaches. Therefore, it is ideal, if you are in doubt about what you are suffering from.

Prevent attacks

If you regularly suffer from headaches caused by stress, you should take as many counter measures as you can to prevent attacks. It is extremely important that you make sure to have enough breaks and time to relax. Everybody has the chance to take small breaks or a little time off, e.g. for a short walk during lunch time, a soothing bath after work, a quiet hour on the sofa reading to your kids, or a relaxing yoga unit. Patients suffering from headaches should also make sure to drink a lot, get fresh air and forgo using smart phone, computer and tablet for two hours per day.
